I have constructed a stone wall along Main Street, adjacent to Arnsheen property. Columns were built first using cut sandstone, total of 7. Concrete caps for the columns were cast and placed atop the columns next. Then the placing the stone for the wall was next. I used the stone from the old vestry and other stone on the property. All the stone wall hauled to the wall by way of a dumper, ready for placing by hand. The stones were placed dry with no mortar, this took about 4 weeks to complete. Concrete slabs were placed to cap the wall. The slabs were needed to shed water off of the wall and protect against water freezing inside the wall. The expansion of the water freezing inside the wall would damage the wall over time. The wall was constructed about 5 feet high and 2-1/2 feet thick. I attended a local 2 day drywalling course to learn the method of stone placement. I got to know each stone personally thru the course of the construction,,,,,,,,,,that was alot of stones.

That wall looks great Rod. You do beautiful work. Can't wait to see more.
This is amazing work, Rod! I would so love to see what you've done to the inside at this point. Have you begun building the inside...kitchen and your upstairs and downstairs rooms? What about the outside room where you removed the old kitchen? I'm so anxious to see where you are now! God bless!
