In 2017 a search began to find an old church in the southwest of Scotland. Several possibilities were found and a wish list of requirements was developed. A trip to Scotland was made in the fall of 2017, to visit the churches located on the internet and compare them to the wish list. Ultimately Arnsheen Church was selected as meeting the most wish list items. Arnsheen was purchased and design plans were made for the conversion of the building into a home. After Planning Permission was received, I moved to Scotland to begin my new adventure. This is what I started with on my first day on site.

Hello! This is an extraordinary blog!
I was born and raised in Girvan and my family still live there. My grandparents were married in Arnsheen in 1968. My grandfather is unwell and has spoken often about how the old church is being restored.
I was wondering if I might be able to get in touch with you privately on an idea I had. I also have some pictures of the Church from back in the day. Please do drop me an email - danielotraynor@hotmail.com.
Many thanks
Dan
You chose a very different and very difficult project Rod. Your progress has been amazing. You are a very brave man and to be commended for your vision and tenacity. :-)
I stopped by your home about 2 years ago and you kindly showed me around. I was visiting family in Ayr, I live in Missouri. Plans to visit this year had to be cancelled unfortunately but I hope to be back again soon. What you have done is amazing and I really enjoyed my visit. Sarah
Can I ask “why a church specifically?”
Good for you and “more power to your elbow” to completing the job.
We did something similar but not a church and on a slightly smaller scale.
